I'm not gonna lie... I hated you. Now...I heart you!!

April is a busy month birthday wise for this family. Two of the ladies is the mama and my friend/SIL... I wanted to do something fun and crafty for them. Started searching Etsy for patterns.
I came across one I loved and to make it that much better it was shipped via email in PDF! Love!
Got the supplies...
001
I got the fabric from one of my happy places in Spokane, The Top Stitch.  It's my happy place.  I might want to live there... maybe.  I mean why wouldn't I? It's oozing with all things I heart.  Anywho.. if you're in the area you should check it out:
The Top Stitch

Spokane, WA
The rest of the supplies I hit up Joann's. This is the first purse I've ever made... so I decided to ask the all knowing older Joann worker... who might I add... looks like she's been sewing for 40+ years! How could she lead me wrong?
Right?!
She talked me out of using canvas for the inside (between the fabrics, like the pattern tells you) and use this super thick interfacing. You look all knowing, sure! great! lets do it!
002
When I cut the interfacing out all that kept going through my head was... wow that looks thick.
Super thick.
How the heck do you sew through that once it's all together (6 layers). OK lady at Joann's... I'm starting to doubt you.
003
004
OK lady at Joann's... I am super doubting you (that's a lot) Just sewing those folds in the fabric on the front of the purse was a lot of layers. The pattern is now telling me to put the front and back together. With the folds this is probably about a inch thick.... really? c'mon. Not gonna happen. At this point I feel like I've passed the point of no return. Must push on!
005
Nope, not gonna stop me.
Must.
Sew.
Through.
006
OK.
Fine.
I'll stop.
I'll throw you across the room.
Scream and yell for a little bit.
But I can't give up. That's not the kind of person I am. Friend wanted some company so I packed up my things and Elliott and headed to her house. As we're driving to her place I'm thankful for the drive. The fresh air. The break from the dreaded purse. I spent the next three house on friend's couch becoming BFF's with this...
007
Any other fabric I *might* have scrapped it and started over... but Amy Butler... that just seems like a crime. So I lovingly ;) took out each stitch. Had the hubby stop at the fabric store on his way home from work (Yes, I know my husband is amazing. He stands in lines at fabric stores and does lots of super girly things like that for me.).
Time to start this over!
008
009
Time to sew all layers together... this is when I ran into serious trouble last time.
010
TA DA!! I made it past the hump. Smooth sailing now. Out side pockets complete. Time to work on the inside.
011
012
Inside pieces sewn together. Placed inside and tacked down.
013
Took a break to make the flower on the outside.
014
Top band added. Now time to add straps and inside top.
015
016
Almost done!
017
Of course I'm about to run out now.... I was prepared for this hurdle.
018
Handles complete. Time to fold top inside down. Sew.
All done!!

Doggies like veggies....right?

Twin and I headed to the fabric store a few weeks ago (when she was visiting), Twin wanted help making a skirt for Little A. We ended up running out of time while she was here. I told her I would put it together for her and put it in the mail before the planned wedding. They wanted to take a big family photo at the wedding with everyone wearing white, black and pink. Super cute idea.

001
002

We used fat quarters for all the different fabric choices on the outside of the skirt and a thick elastic band for the waist.

003

Holy ruffles! Idea for the skirt was taken from Disney... from Ruffles and Stuff. I heart her blog and all the idea's she throws out there.
She provides much inspiration for me!

004

Elliott had a good time feeding Sammie while I finished up the skirt. So thoughtful! Look at all those veggies!!

005

Since I don't have a girl the same size as Little A and clothes are much funner to look at on someone.... Elliott gets to be the model! ha! Little A is about 2 years older than Elliott but she is quite petite. Here's what it looks like on the little man.... it's a bit long on him as Little A is quite a bit taller.

008

The skirt was a big hit (whew! yes!) with Little A. Here is the family photo that was taken of everyone wearing white, black and pink.

(Took it from Twin's facebook... hopefully they don't mind)

Craftiness x 3!

Friend gave birth to an adorable baby girl. So many idea's popped into my head of what I could make for the new babe and her two other girls.
When we had the baby shower for Elliott, people brought gifts for Izzie too! She thought it was the neatest thing and made her feel so included. The look of surprise/joy on her face when she got a gift was priceless and it has stuck with me. Whenever friends have a new babe and there is a new big sister or big brother I always bring a little something something for them.
The oldest sister likes to carry things around. I don't think I've seen her without a purse or bag or some kind holding her treasures. I thought I would make her a cute little purse that is reversible!

003
Next we have the other big sister to the little babe but little sister to big sister. (ha! Didja catch that?) She is two...two year olds like to draw! Decided to make her own crayon and notebook holder to take wherever she goes.
004
005
One of my favorite gifts from Izzabella's birth was a receiving blanket Twin made for me. It was flannel (warm) but light weight and not huge and bulky. It bigger than other blankets, so I could wrap Ms. Izzie-bizzie up just right. I heart it and I still have it. I decided to do the same basic idea for the new babe's present. New babe's name starts with a "J" so I put a "J" on each side in the opposites sides fabric.
006
007
Finished the edges with some cute pink ric-rac.
